Pamplona   Lounge

Hello and welcome to our blog. We’re Tony and Jenny, a retired couple originally from Devon but now living in Kent. We bought a caravan just before I retired from work in 2014. From then on we discovered a love of travelling around in the UK and then venturing to France and even so far as Barcelona in Spain.

We thought that we would write about our journeys and photographs and share them on this blog so that anyone interested can also visit and experience some of our travels through these pages of Jenton’s Journeys.

I have two daughters, one living in Norfolk and the other near Brighton. Our car travel from Devon, especially to Norfolk could be a gruelling six hours journey and that was on a good day. That’s when we decided to move to Kent, so we could be nearer to my daughters, who by now had very young families and also to the Dover ferry port, our gateway to France. We made several journeys to France up until the pandemic and now hope to start going again.

Last year we sadly discovered that we had worn out our old caravan so bought ourselves a very comfortable twin axle upgrade. Towing her back from Birmingham was a breeze so Tony was quite excited. However, we were to then suffer from some difficulties. The electrical connections between car and caravan were different and the so called caravan electrician made a pig's ear out of the wiring system so that neither the fridge nor the more important stabaliser system worked. We got that fixed and took a trip to Sussex to discover that our car was a racehorse, not a workhorse and was too light for our caravan. So - new car and everything is now Bonza!

We have now made several more trips around the country. Just this year alone we made a trip back to the Westcountry in April, initially for a family wedding, but with a couple of weeks added on to revisit old haunts. In June we travelled back to Weston-Super-Mare for a couple of weeks and have just returned from our September trip to Rutland and surrounding areas.

Early on in our caravanning career Tony became very keen on photography of historic buildings and most of our visits include National Trust properties, cathedrals, churches, castles, museums and other points of interest along the way.  Tony has developed a website (Which keeps changing) and has recently started a YouTube channel. It's a steep learning curve for him.but it keeps him quiet. I’ve also taken more of an interest in photography over the last year. It is certainly surprising how much detail you see of a scene or an object when studying a photograph afterwards; detail which might usually just be glanced at or missed completely.

Our caravan, which you can see on the left is a Bailey Unicorm Pamplona. It is a twin axle caravan with a centre island bed at the rear. Our sitting area is at the front and we have a washroom with a full sized shower in the middle.

We have a full sized fridge/freezer which is a boon and a much different experience from the old caravan. No need for a portable fridge now! Our new van has thermostatically controlled central heating which is also a vast improvement over our previous van.

We hope that you enjoy our blog, and YouTube channel and come back often.
