The barrage at Allington is operated by British Waterways. It is the limit of the tidal part of the River Medway and enables boating as far up river as Tonbridge. Just beside the lock is a Beefeater pub and restraunt which is very popular with localpeople and boaters alike. Close to the lock is a slipway for launching inflatables, RIBS and dinghys. The use of it is not restricted to mooring holders but there isa daily charge.
